Herbert tests at Silverstone, May 1997
The Sauber team joined most of the other top teams for
testing at Silverstone from Tuesday 27th May to Thursday
29th May 1997. On the Tuesday and Wednesday, Johnny
tested the Sauber C16, posting 6th quickest times on both
days - 1:25.53 and 1:23.35 respectively. New team-mate
Gianni Morbidelli was 5th quickest on the Thursday with a
1:23.55.
By kind permission of the Sauber team, a few fans were
allowed access to the test (a big thank you to Bob
Herbert for arranging it). The following photos of Johnny
are the best I could manage in the couple of hours I was
there on the Tuesday morning:
