Charity Golf Day - 20 August 1996
Report by Mary Kovalcik: It's a good
thing I don't rely on my game of golf for enjoyment at these days! It was another superb
day with Johnny at his 3rd Annual Charity Golf Day held 20 August. Johnny's foursome
included his manager, Andrew Hampel, John Watson and Gary Davies (Virgin Radio DJ). Before
driving off, serious hushed sidebets were overheard. It was Gary Davies, however, who came
in to the 19th with the biggest grin of the day. Congratulations to this year's
"Bandit". Next year, we'll need to have cameras mounted on the buggies!
It was great to again have the support of so many friends, family and sponsors from
previous years. John Watson shared some of his experiences, including his recent test
drive around the new Osterreichring in Johnny's Sauber-Ford. Even SIDNEY the KIDNEY came
along to lend support and help launch "Scratch & Score" golf at Stocks
Hotel. You can imagine Johnny had his own unique interpretation of "All you have to
do is scratch!". Johnny, ever the prankster, had earlier tried to lead SIDNEY into
the pool - fully clothed.
