Message: Congratulations Johnny on a
great win! It couldn't have happened to a nicer and more deserving
person. Those last 10 or 15 laps were the longest laps of a grand
prix I've ever had to endure - I can't imagine what they must have been
like for you! No matter what the result, I'm always proud to be a Johnny
Herbert fan. Best of luck for the next two races.
Regards,
Russell Cox (an Australian Johnny Herbert fan, and proud of it!)

Message: WOOHOO - Go Johnny!!!!
Congratulations on a deserved victory! I am still
hoarse from Sunday, as are some of my colleagues here at work - (you can
spot a Herbert fan this week by his inability to talk above a throaty
rasp!) :) Thanks for providing the most exciting race in years, mate. Nice
one!
From: Fiona Marsden
Message: What a result at the European
Grand Prix. First place to one of the nicest people in Grand Prix
racing. After such bad luck this year nobody deserved this win as
much as Johnny, he made me feel proud to be british.
Congratulations.

more than you, what with all the bad luck that has dodged you for so long.
I have been a fan of yours for a very long time. Your win has
inspired me and I am sure many others who like you have been dodged with
bad luck all the time.I trust that you have now turned the coner, so to
speak, and I look forward to welcoming you to Kuala Lumpur. Another

"top" drivers, well in my mind, and a lot others around the
world, Johnny is the BEST. This site has given me the chance to find like
minded people, sane people. I love Johnny, I admirer his courage and
persistance. He has to be a good example to us all that even if things
look impossible they can ALWAYS be achieved.
Also and am short, I go for short for men......He!He!

Message: Please pass on to Johnny: CONGRATULATIONS
Well done Johnny B Good. You deserve everything you
get! For your courage, persistence, determination and happy smiling
character.
Please pass my congratulations to the one and only great... Jackie
Stewart. You are both a credit to the sport, yourselves & Great
Britain. Cant wait to hear the roar of the Jaguars next year.

p.s The picture of Johnny with
his parents is wonderful to see.
From: Spenser

Message: Well it was about time you had a bit of good luck for
the first time in nearly two seasons. You sure showed those other
drivers how to handle a car in the difficult weather, and if you had a
more reliable car, you could be in contention for the championship instead
of the other pretenders like Mika and David, who, I think, rely on shear
horse power rather than pure driving ability like yourself.
Well done. If all the drivers were like you when they have a bit of
misfortune or bad luck, and did not burst into tears, then F1 would be
better for it.
We all hope you have a better millenium season with the formidable Jaguar
car.
From: Andy Wright
Message: Well done Johnny - let's hope with more funding and
better equipment this will be just one of many victories. [NB Rest of
this message separately added to the Visitors'

pages of celebrations.]

Message: CONGRATULATIONS JOHNNY!!!!! The first ever Grand Prix
I went to see was when you claimed your first victory at Silverstone in
'95 and I've supported you ever since! I was on the edge of my seat for
the last 20 laps but I knew you could do it again! Not only did you win
but you also broke the record, previously held by Hakkinen, for the most
amount of points from one GP in the Fantasy Formula 1 League I'm running!!
And of course, you're in my FF1 Team so I'm doubly ecstatic!!! Well done
and good luck for the two remaining races!!! :-)
From: Ross Urquhart
Message: Congratulations on a superb win! I have no finger
nails left. Good luck in Malaysia.

I saw you at the Silverstone tyre test, and you were not a happy chappie,
but who could blame you with the luck you get???
Well Done from all of the A.I. Racing Team!

Message: Johnny, what a fantastic
achievement. Us supporters here at Rover Birmingham (or should that be
BMW) are over the moon. If ever a person deserved a win to counteract bad
luck it was you. Congrats to Stewart Ford too and Rubens for being so
generous in his praise. Roll on win number 4 & 5 & 6 &........
From: Craig

Message: Great result on Sunday! I've been saying all
year that Johnny would win a race, and all of my friends wanted to commit
me to an insane asylum. Well, I don't seem so crazy now! It's
about time that the rest of the field had some of Johnny's bad luck, and
he got all of the breaks. I guess there's only one thing left for
Johnny to do this year, and that's go out at the next race and show the
field who their daddy is, again. Great job Johnny!!!!
From: Kenzie Endo
Message: Congratulations on a well deserved

Message: Congratulations Mr. Herbert in your excellent victory
in Germany. Thats one in the eye for them smart arsed germans, a true brit
beating them in their own back yard in a british car. You deserved this
one, well done n keep on doing this in a Jag next year. This one should
make up for being Herr Schumacher's lackey when u was at Bennetton and
having to answer to his majesty like Mr. Irvine had too. Best of British
Luck to both of you at Jaguar next year.

Message: I've been visiting and enjoying David's great site
since long before it moved to it's current address, but I have to say I'd
given up hope of ever seeing Johnny win another race. At the start of the
season I was sure that Stewart could win at least one this year, but that
hope had faded too.
I think this is Johnny's best win because his tactics were spot on, he
didn't put a wheel wrong, and he delivered the maiden (and probably only
ever) victory for Stewart in their own tartan colours. Brilliant!
I can hardly believe how many people shared the same emotions as me -
shaking like a leaf, convincing oneself that he was going to break down,
and crying when he didn't :) I almost decided to give up watching F1, but
it was worth it in the end.
Thanks again for the site, David.

Message: Johnny! Way to go! I am very happy that you pulled it
off! My wife is a big Herbert fan, and I am a fan as well. Keep up the
good work. "I am the man!"

Message: Way to go, Johnny old boy! I came home from
work Sunday afternoon, rewound the tape a little to see the end of the
European GP, and there was Hakkinen... I expected Mike Joy and Derek
Bell to talk about how Mika had dominated the day. But the world
feed graphic showed a big "6". Hmm, then Rubens was shown
"battling" Trulli, for last place no doubt... But they
were 2nd and 3rd?!?! Oh, must be Coulthard's leading. Then
Mike Joy says, "Johnny Herbert has a 24 second lead..." My
eyes bugged out as I sat there in disbelief. But then they showed
Johnny crossing the line with his hand in the air! I jumped up,
smiling like crazy, and trying to make sure this wasn't a dream. It
was great seeing Johnny win Stewart's first, and not the over-rated
Rubinho. Like so many others I'm sure, I'll renew my fan club
membership right away!!!
From: Janet Piper
Message: Congratulations Johnny on yesterday's win, it was
really brilliant and even poor old Murray couldn't be heard above the
cheering in our house!
From: Adam

I've been following your career through "Autosport" for the past
seven or eight years, and especially during your time w/Team Lotus (what a
shame to see that team fall from grace!). I just wanted to send

the best going on into the future.

From: Sharon Herbert
Message: Congratulations Johnny on a truly brilliant win, the

statement to say the least. Keep up the good work and keep smiling.

Silverstone when you scooped me a good few pennies! I bought a bottle of
champagne that day and never got around to drinking it - till

Message: Hi David
I just wanted say a big thank you for featuring my artwork of Johnny on
the main Fan club page. I hadn't
realised it was on there until a friend pointed it out to me.
I will shortly begin painting a picture of Johnny's superb victory at the
Nurburgring. I'm really delighted that he has become the first
driver to win for the Stewart Ford team. He throughly deserves it after
all the rotten luck he has had this season. Well done Johnny!
Many Thanks

From: Neil White
Message: Fantastic!!!
Yesterday's race almost makes up for the rest of the season. If only the
car had held together like that before... oh well onwards and upwards.
Good Luck with Jaguar next season, may you kick Irvine's butt right to the
back of the grid!!!
From: Simon Botting
Message: Top

What a fantastic race and great result for Johnny. His
perseverance is an example to us all, after all the crap he's put up with
this season. I think I've aged a couple of extra years, but it was well
worth it. Congratulation to Johnny and the Stewart team, and Rubens of
course. They looked like a couple of kids up on the podium, showering
Jackie Stewart with the champers. It makes a pleasanrt change to see so
much unbrideled enthusiasm!
From: Sandra Sadler
Message: Congratulations on your win. However, I'm more
pleased for your wife and family, who after this season must have no nails
or hair left!!!! I'm also thrilled as your my lead driver in the
Autosport Fantasy Grand prix, and I picked up loads of points yesterday.
Give em hell in Malaysia.

hope this is the start of many more. Good luck with Jaguar.
From: Harry Lythgoe
Message: I went to Knockhill yesterday, as usual I avoided the
TV's and radio's that were dotted around the paddock, so that I could
watch the video of the GP when I got home without knowing the result. I
had set the video to tape the race, but as usual, the race didn't tape. No
problem I thought, I'll watch the highlights at 11.45, I was very tired
almost dropping off to sleep, could I manage to watch another dreary F1
race or should I just give in and go to bed. I'm glad that I did stop up
now! I've got to hold my hand up and admit that I didn't think he would
ever win again!
From: Ricky
