Not all of these may turn up on the day!
Unfortunately,
Jenson Button has had to pull out at the last minute due to
a slight muscle strain. He's sorry not to be able to make it
this year.

Craig, October 2006: The date is Sunday 26th November,
the venue is The Raceway Docklands, Herringham Road, Charlton,
London SE7 8NJ. This is a fantastic new circuit, currently under
construction and, if you can believe it, bigger and better than
Kings Cross! All proceeds this year will be going to THE WARWICKSHIRE
AND NORTHAMPTONSHIRE AIR AMBULANCE.
No
place for Johnny at Spyker-MF1?
Crash.net,
29th September 2006: The approval of Spyker's takeover of
the former Midland MF1 team by company shareholders appears
to have left Johnny Herbert out of work.
The
Briton had been hired by previous owner Alex Shnaider to provide
a 'friendly face' for the world's media, but his sporting relations
manager role will be surplus to requirements as the Dutch influence
begins to mould the new-look squad ahead of next season. Team
boss Colin Kolles confirmed Herbert's departure, telling Reuters
that the 42-year old had been employed by Midland's parent company
rather than by the race team.
"Of
course, he was part of the team, but it was a different arrangement,"
the team boss said at the Chinese Grand Prix.
Herbert's
persona, and new experience on the other side of the F1 fence,
could see him fall into a similar role elsewhere, and new Spyker
MF1 owner Michiel Mol refuses to rule out an involvement in
the future.
"I
have spoken with Johnny and, somewhere in the next week or
two, we'll sit down and have a chat to see if there is a future
or not," the Dutchman said, "His deal with Midland finished
and now we have to see whether we can do something with him
in the future.".
Johnny
at the Indy 500
Email from Bradley Deeds, 2nd June 2006 – Here's a photo
of Johnny the day before the Indy 500 last weekend.

My
friend PJ Reynolds from Tommy Hilfiger recognized Johnny standing
in line waiting to take a lap around the track in the backseat
of a Chevy Impala. We were like, "Dude, Johnny shouldn't be
waiting in any lines in Indianapolis."
So
we called over Mel Harder, Senior Vice President of Operations
for the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, to see if we could get
him a ride in the Corvette Pace Car instead. Mel said, "Forget
about giving him a ride; let's give him the keys." So Johnny
hopped in and took 5 or 6 lucky folks on hot laps around the
Brickyard.
Mel
told him to keep it down to around 105 miles per hour. I'm not
sure exactly how fast he took my friend Chandra around during
his last spin (see photo above), but it was a bit quicker than
110 mph (more like 160).
Anyway,
thought you'd like the shot and the story. Tell Johnny next
time he comes to Indy to look us up in Tower Suite #1 or ring
us on the mobile. Formula One drivers don't wait in line at
the Motorsports Capital of the World.

comments from the 2006
European GP
MF1 Press Release, 7th May 2006 – Johnny commented, in
his role as Midland F1 Racing's Sporting Relations Manager,
on the 12th and 13th place finishes of Tiago Monteiro and Christijan
Albers at the Nürburgring:
"I
think today's race was a step forward for us. We were only
lapped the one time, but we closed the gap during the race,
which was good. We had a much better weekend with a more competitive
qualifying, red flag issue notwithstanding. But I think overall,
it was much more positive for everybody. The team is encouraged
and I'm happy about that. Hopefully, we can keep pushing forward."

MF1
Press Release, 1st May 2006 – Johnny commented, in his role
as Midland F1 Racing's Sporting Relations Manager, about the
upcoming GP at the Nürburgring:
"People
still comment on my win here in 1999, saying how surprising
it was, coming as it did with a smaller team (Stewart Grand
Prix). We were in a similar situation back then as Midland
are today: struggling with some bad luck and not quite performing
up to our potential.
"But
it just goes to show how big a role determination and sharp
thinking play into it. We never stopped believing in ourselves
and kept working hard to improve, just as everyone in the
Midland team does. Hopefully, we can witness a similar reversal
of fortune this weekend and taste a bit of success."
